LOCATION AND TELEWORK:
Due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation, the selected candidate will work remotely from his/her residence location until further notice. When the decision is made for Employment and Social Development Canada employees to return to the workplace, the successful candidate is expected to work at the traditional workplace located at 4900 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario or with a combination of remote work all while ensuring a flexible work schedule.

The immediate need is to fill TWO (2) Indeterminate positions at the FI-01 group and level within the Integrated Corporate Accounting and Accountability Directorate (ICAAD) and Financial Management and Advisory Services (FMAS) in the Department of the Employment and Social Development Canada in Toronto, Ontario.
A pool of fully qualified candidates may be established to staff identical or similar positions within Employment and Social Development Canada in Toronto, Ontario.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two (2) years or more in a post-secondary program with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics;
OR
Possession of the Government of Canada Financial Management Certificate.
Here is what we are looking for as EXPERIENCES:
EXPERIENCES:
Significant* and recent** experience performing one (1) or more of the following:
• Accounting (e.g. accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, etc.);
• Financial reporting;
• Financial forecasting and budgeting;
• Financial policy and internal controls;
• Financial analysis, advice and recommendations.
*“Significant” experience is defined as being one in which the person’s primary responsibilities include these duties and refers to the breadth and depth as well as complexity of tasks that could be expected to have been obtained by carrying out the functions for a period of approximately twelve (12) months.
**“Recent” experience is defined as experience normally acquired within the last three (3) years
ASSETS QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics AND experience related to positions in the Financial Management Group (FI);
OR
Eligibility for a recognized professional accounting designation. The recognized professional accounting designations are Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified General Accountant (CGA).
EXPERIENCES:
Experience using a computerized financial system such as SAP, Departmental Accounts Receivable System (DARS), Public Service Collections and Disbursements (PSCD), etc.;
Experience using advanced functions in Excel;
Experience in accounting operations;
Experience in financial reporting;
Experience in financial forecasting and budgeting;
Experience in financial analysis, advice and recommendation;
Experience in providing financial support and guidance to clients;
Experience in providing briefings to management (at a minimum: Manager level);
Experience with planning and organizing multiple priorities/projects

Screening of applications and/or selection of candidates may be based on assets qualifications, operational requirements, or the organizational needs, depending on the requirements of the specific position being staffed.
Random selection, top-down selection and/or other volume management techniques may be used at any time during the process to identify which applicants will be further assessed.
What is a top-down selection? It is where only the top scoring candidates will be invited to the next stage of the assessment. Please note that different pass marks and cut-off scores can be used at various stages of the assessment process. Candidates who attain the pass mark might not be further considered in the process if they do not achieve the cut-off score.
