EDUCATION:
For Engineering Technicians:
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution (i.e. degree or diploma) with a specialization in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
For Project Engineers:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
AND
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
For both Engineering Technicians and Project Engineers:
At least two years of experience providing engineering services in a multidisciplinary environment related to the construction or maintenance of infrastructure. Experience must include planning and coordinating projects; preparing cost estimates; providing advice on and managing various phases of projects and working with various parties toward a common goal.
For Engineering Technicians:
Experience reviewing and preparing documents such as specifications, drawings and cost estimates for engineering projects or initiatives.
For Project Engineers:
Experience evaluating or preparing architectural or engineering reports and conducting site inspections, analyzing results and recommending implementation options in support of infrastructure investment or rehabilitation initiatives.
Experience successfully managing multiple projects or initiatives.

Designation as a Professional Technologist (P Tech) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T).
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in Project Management (i.e. Certification or Diploma)
EXPERIENCE:
Experience working with AutoCAD.
Experience providing engineering or construction management services in a marine environment (e.g. wharfs, dock, breakwaters, aids to navigation).
Experience in contracting, procurement and contract management.
Experience completing site inspections and construction field reviews.
Experience completing cost/benefit analyses and providing recommendations on such.
Experience hiring consultants, managing contracts, and monitoring contractors.
Experience working collaboratively with indigenous peoples on projects or initiatives that will impact them.
Reliability Status security clearance
Possession of a valid provincial driver’s license.
Occasional requirement to travel; sometimes for extended periods.
Occasional requirement to travel to remote locations by various modes of transportation (e.g. helicopter, small aircraft, small boat, ATV, snowmobile, ship, etc.).
Occasional requirement to access sites through rough terrain, heights, extreme environmental conditions, and/or confined spaces.
Occasional requirement to work overtime on short notice.
