HOW TO APPLY:
You will be required to demonstrate how you meet the education and each of the experience criteria listed in the essential qualifications and any of the applicable asset qualifications on the Statement of Merit Criteria for the initial screening by answering the online screening questions. The results of this process will initially be used to staff 2 English essential positions on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff identical or similar positions with various tenures and/or language requirements at Transport Canada in the National Capital Region.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a bachelor degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
OR
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
EX1: Significant* experience in the design, development, testing, or certification of components or systems related to Occupant Safety & Environmental Systems for use in aircraft.
*Significant is defined as having 7 or more years of engineering experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities related to engineering in the aerospace industry.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Asset Experience:
AEX1: Experience as a design approval delegate carrying out aircraft certification activities
AEX2: Experience in the ground, rig, and flight testing of Occupant Safety and Environmental Systems related components and systems.

K1: Knowledge in engineering principles, practices, and current technologies related to Occupant Safety & Environmental Systems
K2: Knowledge of Civil Aviation airworthiness requirements and their application to certification of aeronautical products
K3: Knowledge of System Safety Assessment tools such as Failure Hazard Analysis, System Safety Assessment, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis

AK3: Knowledge of Transport Canada Civil Aviation regulatory framework and type certification procedures related to the approval of Canadian manufactured aircraft and type design validation of foreign manufactured aircraft.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be willing and able to travel nationally and internationally as required.
Must be willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required.
