Based on sea ice velocity data from the Radarsat ice tracker, the research assistant will develop a Python code for calculating the sea ice deformations (spatial derivatives of the sea ice velocity). Moreover, the assistant will develop another Python code for evaluating the simulated deformations from the regional ice ocean prediction system. Finally, the assistant will have to communique the result of his(her) work orally and in writing.
If conditions allow it, the work will take place at the Canadian Centre for Meteorological and Environmental Prediction (CCMEP) in Dorval, Québec. The research assistant will work as part of the numerical environmental prediction research group.
The intention of the process is to offer an opportunity around May 3 to August 20, 2021.

The student must be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in computer science or computer engineering or software engineering.
EXPERIENCE:
EX1. Experience in Python programming
