Nunavut Inuit (beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement) will be considered ahead of other applicants (including persons with priority entitlement and Veterans).
IMPORTANT FINANCIAL INFORMATION:
Successful candidates may be eligible for staff housing and the reimbursement of relocation costs.
You will also be entitled to a northern isolated post allowance, (would vary depending on location) up to $37, 877 annually plus vacation travel assistance.

The Arctic Region of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), Marine Planning and Conservation Program, is seeking to recruit enthusiastic individuals to join its team of staff dedicated to the delivery of Federal policy, program and regulatory responsibilities under the Oceans Act and associated Oceans Strategy with the goal of ensuring healthy, safe and prosperous oceans for the benefit of current and future generations of Canadians.
The Project Officer may be involved with any of the following types of work on a given day in collaboration with other federal departments, provincial and territorial governments, Indigenous organizations and communities:
Generating and implementing innovative approaches to presenting Marine Planning and Conservation information, including:
- Coordinating the development of products and provision of information to communities;
- Providing advice and information for collaborative projects with community groups including capacity building, education and awareness;
- Coordinating the delivery of public participation and awareness projects;
- Supporting/liaising with internal communications;
- Supporting/liaising with community engagement.
Maintaining information including tracking of external engagement and filing of materials,; including:
- Supporting Senior Biologist/Senior Analyst to organize latest versions of negotiations, and emails that support decisions, check facts, and manage social media content;
- Participating in meetings, and taking minutes;
- Organizing/filing information into “data bases”.
Researching and making recommendations for engagement equipment.
Operating and maintaining external engagement equipment. This will also include training other staff and external partners.
Organizing travel.
