This is an anticipatory selection process. The intent is to create a pool of qualified candidates that will be used to staff similar positions at Transport Canada within the National Capital Region.

Education
ED: A secondary school diploma AND a completion of an acceptable program in
electronics technology
OR
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
NOTE: Normally, an acceptable training program in electronics technology involves the completion of two to three years of post-secondary study in this subject.
Experience
EX1: Experience in troubleshooting hardware and/or software systems.
Assets:
OC1: possess an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license.
Experience
AEX1: Experience in the operation and maintenance of full flight simulators that are qualified to Level “D” Transport Canada or equivalent and flight training devices.
AEX2: Experience in the operation and maintenance of avionics and aircraft systems.

Knowledge
K1: Knowledge of analogue and digital electronic theory.
K2: Knowledge of computer systems operation, maintenance and troubleshooting including hardware and software structures.
K3: Knowledge in the use of modern test equipment.
Abilities
A1: Ability to troubleshoot systems to identify deficiencies in the simulator software or hardware
A2: Ability to interpret equipment condition information originating from write-ups in logbooks or user debriefings.
A3: Ability to analyze and synthesize information, identify options and exercise judgment in order to determine the best solution; adapt to the situation.
A4: Ability to communicate effectively orally.
A5: Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
