Integrated Technical Services (ITS) is a dynamic organization within the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG), with the mandate to deliver technical services and solutions in order to ensure that the CCG’s varied physical assets are capable, reliable and available to deliver CCG Programs to Canadians.
As a shore based engineering technician, you would play a key role in the safe maintenance and operation of CCG equipment and vessels by acquiring and controlling inventory; ensuring proper documentation is completed for technical work; monitoring and tracking required inspections and certifications for vessels and related equipment; and participating in the creation and maintenance of occupational health and safety reports, standards and procedures.

EDUCATION:
A secondary school (i.e. High School) diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience related to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience coordinating tasks, activities or incoming requests within an engineering or technical environment.
Experience tracking, and reporting on, budgets and expenditures.
Experience reviewing and preparing documents such as specifications, proposals, work plans and cost estimates for engineering or technical projects or initiatives.
Experience using a computerized inventory control system or material management system.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience working in a multidisciplinary Marine Environment including developing or maintaining collaborative relationships with internal and external parties.
Experience providing technical expertise related to marine equipment and systems and vessel construction, maintenance or refit projects.
Experience implementing occupational health and safety procedures and protocols in an operational environment. Experience must include conducting inspections, maintaining data, ensuring corrections where needed and ensuring adherence to an organizations occupational health and safety requirements.
Experience performing the duties of a service advisor including providing information and updates to clients on issues and required maintenance of equipment; preparing paperwork/documentation for required work; and coordinating and prioritizing incoming requests for service.
Experience with, and knowledge of, outboard motors or diesel engines.
Experience using Microsoft Access including creating and maintaining documents and information.
Experience using Maximo.

EDUCATION:
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution (i.e. degree or diploma) with a specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Reliability Status security clearance
Possession of a valid provincial driver’s license or the personal mobility equal to possessing a valid driver’s license.
Valid Health Canada Medical.
Occasional requirement to travel.
Occasional requirement to work overtime, on short notice, to meet operational requirements.
Occasional requirement to go to sea in vessels under trial.
Requirement to manage and move equipment of up to 100lbs.
