Duties

This work term will involve a range of laboratory techniques, including geochemical methods, DNA extractions, and species identification of a range of microscopic organisms. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining quality assurance and control of their work, and maintaining excellent lab and data records.

Work environment

The student will work in the laboratories of Drs. Kathryn Hargan and Andrew Lang, Department Biology, Memorial University of Newfoundland. The work will involve using a range of laboratory methods to sample sediment cores collected at seabird colonies throughout Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
The Student must be currently enrolled or willing to enroll in a Master's Program in the Faculty of Science, Department of Biology, at Memorial University of Newfoundland, a recognized post-secondary institution, at which the Student is enrolled as having full-time student status.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
- The Student should have the ability to conduct geochemical laboratory work and DNA extractions.
- The Student should have basic knowledge of marine bird ecology and paleo-ecological approaches.
