This is an anticipatory process. A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, term, deployment, assignment, secondment or acting) within Transport Canada (TC).

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or acceptable combination of a secondary school diploma and/or training and relevant experience.

Degree equivalency

*Recent and significant experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with internal or external agencies or clients
*Recent and significant experience in comprehending and applying legislation or policies
*Recent and significant experience in providing advice or recommendations to clients or management

Experience in conducting environmental, risk, or vulnerability assessments

Experience in the Rail industry and/or Bridges and Tunnels
Experience in the Marine industry

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability and willingness to travel, both domestically and internationally by various modes of transport.
Ability and willingness to work overtime and/or irregular hours on short notice.
Ability and willingness to work on standby duties on a 24/7 basis as required.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

Required to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Required to pass a pre-employment Category III medical for Transportation Security Inspectors and pass a periodic medical every 5 years.

The following 3 items are required on a periodic basis only:
Required to perform stand-by duties.
Required to travel on short notice for extended periods regionally, domestically and internationally using all modes of transportation.
Required to work overtime and/or irregular hours as assigned including on short notice.

ASSESSMENT - GENERAL INFORMATION
Random selection, invoking asset qualifications may be used in conjunction with other volume management strategies that can be applied at any stage in the staffing process.

Candidates may be assessed using various methods, such as, but not limited to: written exam or assignment, phone, video, individual and/or group interview(s), simulation exercise and/or reference checks. Candidates may be required to make an oral presentation

ASSESSMENT – RESCHEDULING
Rescheduling will only be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Supporting documentation will be required at the time of your request to be rescheduled.

Possible reasons for alternate assessment dates:
· Medical reason with doctor's certificate;
· Death in the immediate family;
· Professional obligation (proof required);
· Confirmation of pre-approved travel plans; or
· Religious reasons.

ASSESSMENT – REFERENCE CHECKS
Those selected for assessment should be prepared to provide the names and contact information of recent references (recent is defined as within the last 2 years):

References must be available, have an in-depth knowledge of your work/projects, and must be able to answer specific questions pertaining to your experience, achievements and strengths.

References that are not reachable and/or not available are lowering the candidates’ chances to be found fully qualified and be considered for appointment. When providing names of references, it is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure they are available to respond in a timely manner.

You must provide proof of your education credentials.
