The selected student will analyze scientific data pertaining to the immune function and growth of captive waterfowl to investigate whether timing of hatch influences development and trade-offs between competing needs for growth and survival.
The student is expected to be involved in data compilation and quality control, as well as statistical analyses of data (including coding), and preparation of manuscripts.
The Student must be currently enrolled or able to enroll in a Master's Program in the Department of Biology at the University of Saskatchewan, by 28-December, 2020.
The Principal Investigator for this project has Adjunct Status in the Department of Biology, at the University of Saskatchewan, and this location provides access to key resources, including physical copies of data sheets.
A strong background in biology and courses in Ecological Methods, Wildlife Management and Conservation Biology, and Advanced Linear Modeling are required and some prior research experience, including development of statistical models, is highly desirable. The student will also have knowledge of waterfowl biology (identification, breeding biology, life history cycles) and the ability to telework.
