In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in marine biology, ecology, oceanography, physics or another field related to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

A minimum of 3 years of experience in conducting research on populations and habitat sciences of marine pelagic organisms using multi-frequency acoustic technologies.

A minimum of 3 years of experience with R, Matlab, SAS, SQL, S+, VB, C++, ADMB, or other scientific programming software.

A minimum of 3 years of experience in conducting quantitative analyses and interpreting data using statistical analytical techniques or tools associated with multivariate datasets in biological, ecological, and/or oceanographic studies.

Experience in producing briefing materials and presentations, as well as presenting research results at scientific symposia, workshops or meetings.

Experience in writing and authoring scientific publications in international peer reviewed journals in the research field with at least two papers in the last 5 years and at least one as first author.

Postdoctoral or work experience doing independent research in a field of the natural sciences related to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience in using fisheries acoustic technologies and methods.

Experience in analysing multi-frequency or broadband fisheries acoustic data.

Experience in developing and applying multi-frequency classification algorithms for copepod, krill and fish species.

Experience in developing and providing science-based advice and recommendations to scientists, managers, or stakeholders.

Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and overtime.
Willingness and ability to frequently travel for field work and meeting.
Willingness and ability to handle strenuous work in the field and on vessels for extended periods of time.
