Duties

A Detachment Services Assistant provides administrative and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. This position also provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) permanent position in Inuvik, NT. A qualified pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions on an indeterminate, term or casual basis.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

- Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.*

*Candidates invited to an interview will be required to bring proof of their education credentials, in the form of a diploma or official transcript.

Degree equivalency

- Experience in the provision of clerical support services, including: data entry, preparing correspondence, and filing;
- Experience using word processing and spreadsheet software;
- Experience providing service to internal or external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.

- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

- Experience working in a law enforcement and/or legal environment.

- RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS) security clearance.

- Health Canada approved medical clearance (Isolated Post only).
