EDUCATION:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
NOTES:
1. Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed to meet the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor's degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.
2. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.
EXPERIENCES:
Experience in at least two areas of communications (e.g., public relations, internal communications, writing and editing, communications planning, media relations, outreach, media monitoring, event planning) is required.
Experience in providing communications advice.
Experience in supporting or planning or managing communications projects.
Experience in the use of digital and social media tools.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience working with Indigenous people or communities, directly or indirectly.
Experience working with diverse groups of employees, partners, clients, stakeholders, etc.
Experience working with different types of software, such as, but not limited to: Microsoft Office tools, Adobe Creative Suite, publishing software and GCTools (GCpedia, GCconnex, etc.).
Experience in organizing internal events, VIP visits or exhibits.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willing and able to occasionally work overtime and irregular hours, at times on short notice.
Willing and able to travel occasionally (including travel by car, rail and air), sometimes on short notice.
This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license or mobility usually associated with having a valid driver’s license.
