BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
Continuing Airworthiness: Investigate and resolve in-service airworthiness problems, working with affected manufacturers and foreign authorities. Determine if problems present an unsafe condition using engineering analysis and risk analysis, determine if the corrective action proposed by the manufacturer adequately mitigates the safety risk and draft Airworthiness Directives to mandate the corrective action or formulating non-mandatory corrective actions as appropriate

The results of this process will initially be used to staff two (2) English essential positions on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established to staff similar positions on an indeterminate, term, assignment, secondment or acting basis with various linguistic profiles (bilingual imperative, unilingual) within Transport Canada, should the need to fill a position arise.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
OR
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.
Note: Candidates will be asked to provide proof of education or eligibility for
certification.
EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Significant* and recent** experience in the design, development, testing, certification, in-service support or airworthiness of aeronautical products.
*Significant is defined as having 5 or more years of engineering experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities related to engineering in the aeronautical industry.
**Recent experience is defined as within the last 10 years.
If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
AEX1: Extensive* experience in the design, development, testing, certification, in-service support or airworthiness of aeronautical products.
AEX2: Experience in managing or evaluating inputs related to the identification, evaluation and rectification of in-service airworthiness problems or airworthiness risk management.
AEX3: Experience in project management within a technical environment.
AEX4: Engineering experience related to the design, development, testing, in-service support or certification of avionics or electrical systems.
AEX5: Engineering experience related to engineering in the design, development, testing, in-service support or certification of Rotorcraft, or General aviation aircraft.
*Extensive is defined as having 10 or more years of engineering experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities related to engineering in the aerospace industry.

AK3: Knowledge of System Safety Assessment (SSA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing and able to travel nationally and internationally occasionally as required.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime and weekends occasionally as required.
