Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory staffing process designed to create a pool of qualified candidates. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff future permanent and/or temporary vacancies within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Edmonton, Alberta.

The pool could be used to offer acting appointments, assignments, secondments or deployments.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

EDUCATION

• Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.*

*Candidates invited to an interview will be required to bring proof of their education credentials, in the form of a diploma or official transcript.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

• Experience processing and handling classified, confidential or sensitive information.

• Experience using or maintaining a database.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

EDUCATION

• PROS Information Manager (IM) Certified.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

• Recent* experience in using PROS with End User Certification.

• Experience providing administrative support services in a law enforcement, judicial or quasi-judicial environment.

• Experience maintaining a law enforcement database such as: Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), Police Information Retrieval Systems (PIRS), Police Reporting and Occurrence System (PROS), Automated Criminal Intelligence Information System (ACIIS), National Criminal Data Bank (NCDB).

*Recent experience signifies having performed these duties within the last 2 years.

• Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.

• Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.

• Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation, including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft and up to and including remote locations.

• Willingness and ability to maintain a valid driver's license, or have personal mobility to the degree normally associated with a driver's license.

• Willingness and ability to work shift work (24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year).

Conditions of employment

• RCMP Top Secret security clearance.

Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a RCMP Security Clearance throughout their employment. Positions filled will have security clearance requirements at the following levels: RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status, Secret or Top Secret. This requires a Security/Reliability Interview, and a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, reference, etc.
