The ability to work on site is expected.
The employee will be responsible for applying experience and skills to support scientific research and data management through spatial data assembly and mapping. The employee will be responsible for collating existing spatial data, routine mapping exercises, spatial layer creation, and data quality checking. The employee will work in a team environment with research scientists, technical staff, and managers to improve knowledge and understanding of freshwater ecosystems, important species, and habitats.

Education
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in biology, geography, environmental science, or resource management.
Experience
• Experience in applying ArcGIS tools and mapping.
• Experience programming in R, Python, or SQL.
• Experience collating, organizing, and quality checking data in Microsoft Excel or R.
• Experience writing scientific reports and protocols.
Education
• Graduation with an MSc from a recognized university in a natural, physical, or applied science.
Experience
• Experience writing Python code to run tools in ArcGIS (e.g. ArcPy).
• Experience managing large amounts of data using R and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in conducting aquatic field survey methodologies, especially in remote locations.
• Experience working with First Nations, especially working with traditional forms of knowledge.
• Experience working directly with client groups, other levels of government, or non-government organizations.
