Assessment accommodation

This position is located in Ottawa. As a result of the global pandemic, OSFI employees are currently working from home. Should the current telework environment no longer apply, you will be required to report to and work onsite from the Ottawa office.

Duties

Within a team of dedicated HR professionals, the Human Resources (HR) assistant is responsible for the coordination of a variety of staffing activities. This includes, but is not limited to, the development of job advertisements for internal and external processes, the coordination of assessments such as written exams and interviews, ongoing communication with candidates, as well as the management of electronic staffing files.

The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) is an independent agency of the Government of Canada, established in 1987 to contribute to the safety and soundness of the Canadian financial system. OSFI supervises and regulates federally registered banks and insurers, trust and loan companies, as well as private pension plans subject to federal oversight.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one position with a language requirement of bilingual imperative CBC/CBC on an indeterminate basis.

A pool of qualified or partially qualified candidates may be created to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, term, acting, etc.), various linguistic profiles (CBC/CBC, BBB/BBB, etc.), and/or security requirements (reliability, secret, etc.) within the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
- A degree* from a post-secondary institution OR a combination of education, experience and training.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
- Recent experience in providing administrative support services (such as answering telephone or email enquiries, taking and relaying messages, booking meetings, etc.), including providing client service with internal and external clients.
- Experience in creating and maintaining electronic files.
- Experience in drafting, formatting and reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Recent and significant experience in using Microsoft Office Suite software (such as Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).

ASSET EDUCATION

ASSET EXPERIENCE
- Experience working as an HR Assistant.
- Experience working as an HR Assistant in an operational staffing environment in an organization that is subject to the Public Service Employment Act.
- Experience in using the Public Service Resourcing System (PSRS) to create and post job advertisements as well as to extract applicant information.
- Experience in using the Priority Information Management System (PIMS) to submit priority clearance requests and extract candidate information.

As a Separate Agency, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) appoints employees in accordance with the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA). OSFI is named in Schedule V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) and it offers the same pension and benefits plans as the core Federal Public Service. In addition to this, OSFI employees obtain a minimum of 4 weeks of vacation leave per year, earn a competitive salary, and are eligible for an annual performance bonus.
