Duties

Depending on the position being staffed:
Provide technical leadership and support for projects.
Contribute to the experimental design and planning of experiments and projects, and undertake their conduct.
Co-ordinate research efforts with external collaborators, graduate students and research associates.
Draft reports and contribute to the preparation of research reports and presentations.
Collect data as per protocols and complete sample analyses as required.
Input data and provide initial statistical analyses as per developed models.
Supervise and assign duties on a daily basis to students and staff.

Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this process is to staff one (1) position in Brandon (Manitoba).

A pool of qualified and partially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures as well as various linguistic requirements.

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience providing technical support and leading activities in a research or field environment.
Experience planning and conducting field experiments and contributing to experimental design.
Experience collecting and performing analysis on samples.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in ecology, natural resources, plant biology, soil science, biology or a related discipline.

Degree equivalency

Experience in the use of GPS (mapping and survey grade) for agricultural research.
Experience in the use of GIS procedures to analyze, manipulate and present geo-spatial data.
Experience in the use of proximal soil sensors in agricultural field research.
Experience in providing scientific and technical advice to clients.
Experience in the use of scientific programming languages for data processing and analysis.
Experience conducting native plant surveys.
