The main responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:
• Prepare the work schedules for fishery officers;
• Develop weekly work plans based on regional and area priorities;
• Supervise fishery officers;
• Conduct patrols and investigations to enforce the Fisheries Act and its regulations;
• Monitor the career progression of recruits;
• Work closely with other districts, areas, and law enforcement organizations;
• Participate in identify budget requirements.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established in order to staff 4 permanent positions :
- 1 position in Grande-Rivière
- 1 position in Sept-Îles
- 1 position in Blanc-Sablon
- 1 position in Îles-de-la-Madeleine
Other positions using this pool of qualified candidates may be staffed at Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

Your résumé.
EDUCATION
High school diploma;
Must have completed a recognized training program for armed law enforcement officers;
Must hold valid certification or have held valid certification from their organization for the use of firearms and use of force in the past two (2) years;
Recent and significant experience* in field enforcement duties, including powers similar to those exercised by Fishery Officers (arrest, search and seizure with or without warrants, etc.);
Experience in preparing legal proceedings and in the procedures for presenting evidence in court.
* Recent and significant experience is defined as experience typically acquired through performing the duties mentioned over a period of at least three (3) years in the past four (4) years.

Successful completion of the Fishery Officer Career Progression Program (FOCPP) or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
Note : Candidates who have not completed Fisheries and Oceans Canada's Fishery Officer Career Progression Program (FOCPP) must clearly indicate in their curriculum vitæ the name of the school they attended, as well as the start and end dates of the program of study. Official documents proving candidates' levels of education will be required during the screening phase.

Secret security clearance
Agreement to being deployed anywhere in Canada to perform any types of enforcement activities including (but not limited to) inland, coastal and offshore patrols (including air patrols), and/or forensic investigations and/or special operations;
Agreement to be assigned anywhere in Canada to perform any types of enforcement activities, including (but not limited to) inland, coastal and offshore patrols (including air patrols), and/or forensic investigations and/or special operations;
Meet the medical and psychological requirements;
Must hold a valid class 4A driver's licence;
Hold valid first aid and CPR certification;
Carry and use firearms and other restricted and prohibited weapons;
Meet DFO competency standards regarding the use of force;
Wear a uniform and required protective clothing;
Work and/or travel at sea and in a variety of terrain conditions and degrees of isolation for various periods in all weather conditions;
Willing and able to work overtime at short notice;
Willing and able to work evenings, nights and weekends.
