Duties

The Department of Canadian Heritage promotes and provides support for: creativity, arts and culture; heritage and celebrations; sports; official languages, and; diversity and inclusion. We do this by providing funding to organizations working in these fields.

Along with its offices in the National Capital Region, the Department of Canadian Heritage serves Canadians through five regions that operate a network of local offices ensuring a presence across Canada. Regional offices play a critical role delivering our policies and programs and maintaining a crucial link with the public, from program delivery to client engagement.

THE OPPORTUNITY

♦ What is an inventory?

When you apply to this inventory, you are applying for a current or future opportunity as a Program Manager at Canadian Heritage. As opportunities arise, Canadian Heritage may use the inventory to fill their positions.

We are seeking enthusiastic and engaged people to serve as Regional Program Managers to guide program delivery and client support in a number of Canadian locales. We have manager positions at two levels.

Work environment

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of our employees are currently working from home. Once we re-open our offices, we may consider a variety of workplace arrangements including full-time telework, full-time office work or a combination of the two.

Intent of the process

We will use this inventory to fill current and future vacancies.

We will consider a first group of applications with the intention of staffing a number of positions by June 2021.

After June, subsequent assessments will depend on location specific operational requirements.

EDUCATION:

-A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

**Foreign Credential Validation against Canadian Standards:
If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your certificates and/or diplomas assessed to obtain Canadian educational equivalency.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

PM-05 and PM-06:
- Experience in building and maintaining collaborative relationships with various stakeholders.
- Experience in presenting advice, options and recommendations to decision makers.

Additional experience for the PM-06 positions :
- Experience in financial management.
- Experience in supervising or managing a team of employees.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (NON-ESSENTIAL)

Please note that if your application is selected, you will be asked to provide information (if applicable) on your experience with the following:

- Experience in community development or outreach.
- Experience in the administration of financial resources, monitoring budgets and tracking expenditures.
- Experience in program management.
- Experience in coaching/mentoring
- Experience in leading a working group or a committee

- Experience working on issues of discrimination and anti-racism
- Experience working with official language minority communities.
- Experience working in the arts and culture or heritage sector.
