The Northern Forestry Centre is one of five research centres operated by the Canadian Forest Service. The centre is located in a beautiful park-like setting nestled on the edge of the community of Lansdowne in South Edmonton. Employees enjoy an in-house cafeteria as well as close proximity to the Whitemud Freeway, the University of Alberta, Southgate Mall and the South Campus/Fort Edmonton Park LRT station. For 49 years, the Northern Forestry Centre has contributed greatly to the Canadian Forest Service’s forest science research in the areas of wildland fire, climate change, boreal system ecology and land reclamation.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one (1) bilingual imperative BBB/BBB position located in Edmonton, Alberta.

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures, various linguistic requirements, language requirements and profile(s), various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Education:
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).
1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
 A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
 An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience working independently with electronic programs and technology (examples may include Microsoft Office 365, SAP, PeopleSoft, electronic filing and database systems).
Experience in providing administrative support such as managing a daily schedule, including planning and coordination of meetings.
Experience in coordinating incoming and outgoing correspondence.
