Duties

This position provides a comprehensive basic academic education program; assesses the academic needs and abilities of inmates through assessments; coordinates correspondence courses; provides individualized instruction; develops individual educational plans; assists in inventory control; and performs other duties related to the position.

This process will be used to staff one permanent position at Atlantic Institution in Renous, New Brunswick. A pool of qualified candidates may also be established for future opportunities (permanent or temporary).

EDUCATION:
Graduation from a recognized university with a bachelor's degree in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, mathematics, physics, home economics, or any other specialty relevant to the position (e. g. adult education, English, French, history, geography, learning disabilities, English as a second language, etc.)

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION :
Possess acceptable teaching certificate from a Canadian province or territory and possess or be eligible for a valid teaching certificate issued by the New Brunswick Teachers' Certification Office.

EXPERIENCE:
Teaching experience in a high school or to adults or youth at risk in a classroom.
*Experience includes substitute teaching and placements. "In class" is defined as a class of at least five students.
