Duties

The incumbent will assist in the dispensing and distribution of medications to correctional institutions of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) and in the maintenance of pharmacy and institutional inventory and related records systems.

CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

Education:
Successful completion of an acceptable pharmacy technician certification program (or equivalent).

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Previous experience in providing technical services in pharmacy.

Knowledge of Pharmacy Practices, Brand Name and Generic Drug Equivalencies and dosages of commonly used drugs.
Knowledge of Pharmaceutical terminology and abbreviations.
Knowledge of Narcotic and Controlled Drugs and their usage and regulations.
Knowledge of Pharmaceutical mathematics and calculations.
Knowledge of common pharmacy procedures.
Knowledge of the legislation and regulations governing the storage, control, and dispensing of drugs and narcotics/controlled drugs in province of position.

Abilities and Skills:
Ability to effectively communicate with others.
Ability to monitor accuracy and work under pressure.
