Who are we?
Health Canada’s Regulatory Operations and Enforcement Branch (ROEB) informs and protects Canadians from health and safety risks associated with regulated products, substances and the environment. We do this by delivering and conducting compliance and enforcement activities, and supporting complementary scientific programs. These activities may include:
• inspection;
• product sampling;
• compliance verification;
• enforcement measures; and
• investigations.
Regulated products include cannabis, health products, controlled substances, consumer products, tobacco, vaping, and pesticides.

What is a typical day in the life of a Regulatory Compliance & Enforcement Supervisor?
The Regulatory Compliance & Enforcement Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and the delivery of the regulatory program. In this role, they plan, assign and monitor inspections based on risk. They supervise the compliance and enforcement actions and report activities to the manager. They do this by supervising a team of professionals and are also responsible for the approval of expenses associated to their team and their activities.

This inventory is intended to staff similar positions with various language requirements; various work locations and/or various tenures at the SG-SRE-06 group and level within Health Canada. The current need is to staff five (5) positions on an indeterminate basis.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in microbiology, chemistry, mechanical engineering, pharmacy, food science, or an other specialty related to the position.
EXPERIENCE
Within the last five (5) years, two (2) or more years of experience working in a science-based regulatory environment conducting activities such as assessing compliance, conducting audits, conducting inspections, or licensing.
Experience providing advice to management based on the application of legislation, regulations, policies, programs or guidelines. (Management defined as manager level or above)
Experience in the risk management of complex scientific regulatory issues related to products such as pharmaceuticals, consumer products, pesticides, controlled substances, tobacco, vaping, medical devices, natural health products, food or cannabis.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS
Willingness and ability to travel occasionally within and outside Canada
Willingness and ability to work occasional overtime, evenings and weekends
You may be required to have a valid driver’s license or personal mobility to the degree normally associated with the possession of a valid driver’s license

Please let us know if you meet the following experience, which is considered an asset
Experience assessing compliance with regulatory requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or other quality systems (Good production practices (GPP) for Cannabis, ISO 13485 for Medical Devices, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) for food)
Experience in managing financial resources such as financial planning, budgeting and financial reporting
Experience in project management with respect to the delivery and implementation of regulatory compliance programs
Reliability Status security clearance - Reliability Security Clearance or Secret Security Clearance (we will help you attain this during the hiring process)
