Assessment accommodation

Duties

Management, coordination and delivery of health care services and inter-disciplinary clinical services to federal offenders within an Intitutional Health Service Centre(s), Regional Hospital or Regional Treatment Centre (RTC) setting (Psychiatric Hospital or Intermediate Mental Health Care Unit). Participation in institutional operations and on the Institutional Management Committee, and provides input into the development, implementation of strategic plans, operational institutional policies, procedures, evaluation and quality assurance methods and tools. Develops and maintains effective communications within the CSC and with other professional organizations and community agencies.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution or college with an acceptable specialization in nursing, nursing service administration, nursing education or some other specialty relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Recent and significant* experience in one or more of the following areas: psychiatric, medical-surgical, emergency or other related fields.

*Recent and significant experience is normally gained over 3 consecutive years within the last 5 years.

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of nursing management strategies in the delivery of health services.
Knowledge of professional Standards of Practice from the college of Nurses for the respective Province of Work.
Knowledge of the issues and trends affecting the management and delivery of health programs.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and Correctional Service Canada policies (e.g. Commissioner’s Directives).

Willingness to work outside normal or business hours with little or no notice.

Conditions of employment

Conditions of Employment:
Reliability and Security: Reliability Status Security Clearance.
Medical Clearance through Health Canada or alternatives designated by Health Canada.
Valid CPR certificate with AED.
Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse in the Province of Work, with no conditions or restrictions.
