Intent of the process

The anticipated intent/result of this process is to indeterminately staff (on a full time basis) one position.

A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future permanent vacancies.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A secondary school diploma or a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
1. Recent experience in performing clerical duties, such as filing, processing mail, reception, etc.
2. Experience with hard copy and electronic file management.
3. Recent experience using a variety of software, including word processing and spreadsheet (such as WordPerfect or Word and Excel) in a work setting.

“Recent” means experience obtained over approximately the last 2 years.

Education:
Completion of a course of study in office administration (for example, administrative assistant certificate or diploma).

Degree equivalency

Experience:
1. Experience in providing administrative or operational support in a policing environment
2. Experience using police computer applications and programs such as PRIME, CPIC, JUSTIN and TEAM
3. Experience in transcribing audio recordings in English.

Depending on the requirements of the position(s) being staffed from this process, for current or future vacancies, any or all of the asset qualifications may be applied at the time of staffing. Candidates may be contacted and assessed against these criteria at any time during this process.

Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 18 months and may be extended.

An external test may be administered for assessment purposes.

Please note that candidates (including persons employed in the Public Service) will not be considered to be in travel status or on government business and travel costs will not be reimbursed. Consequently, candidates will be responsible for travel costs.

Random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.

If a qualified candidate has been selected and appointed on an indeterminate basis from the established pool, they will be removed from the pool. If a candidate is selected for a specified period (including term, acting, or assignment/secondment) appointment, they will remain in the pool for future offers.

This process and the resulting pool will only be used to staff positions in the RCMP.

Experience qualifications will be assessed upon application. Further confirmation or assessment may be conducted through reference checks.

Any information provided by a candidate through their application or assessment that is deemed to be incorrect or fraudulent will be eliminated from further consideration.

All communication relating to this process, including e-mail correspondence and telephone conversations may be used in the assessment of qualifications of the candidate.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
