learning and growth.
As an employer of choice for over 26,000 people, the RCMP promises a career like no other. With over 130 years of tradition and service, the RCMP is Canada's national police service. Proud of our traditions and confident in meeting future challenges, we commit to preserve the peace, uphold the law and provide quality service in partnership with our communities.
**PLEASE NOTE** Candidates are required to attend a Career Presentation (date to be determined). Only those who attend the Career Presentation will be able to register for the CritiCall exam. Candidates who are successful at the exam will be
required to participate in an interview.

Telecommunications Operators provide a critical service within the RCMP that support both public and police officer safety.
A Telecommunications Operator is responsible for responding to both Police and Emergency 9-1-1 calls for service while dispatching RCMP and other emergency responders to incidents in their respective province. This requires a level of multitasking simultaneously on computers with multiple screens/programs while responding to calls on a radio/phone of which some may be highly stressful "life or death" situations. Telecommunications Operators are often exposed to emotionally charged clients and incidents which may be traumatic, violent and disturbing. Telecommunications Operators work shift work (24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year).
The intent of the process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates at the TCO-01 and TCO-02 group and level.
Candidates who are qualified at the TCO-01 level and who are selected for the Telecommunications Operator Training Program will be appointed to a determinate (term) appointment at the TCO-01 group and level.
Only the TCO-01 Trainees who successfully complete the training program* will be placed in a pool of qualified TCO-02 which may be used to appoint determinately (term) or indeterminately (permanent) at the TCO-02 group and level.
* The Training Program is comprised of in-class training followed by field coaching. The duration of the training program varies according to the location of the position.
Persons with a priority entitlement may self-refer if interested in the TCO-01 and TCO-02 position and will be considered in priority to all other applicants.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.
