Role:
As an Internal Auditor you will provide Senior Management with independent assurance services on the effectiveness and efficiency of programs, policies and controls, as well as compliance with Government of Canada policy requirements, industry standards and laws and regulations. You and your colleagues will provide recommendations to enhance management frameworks, risk management, controls and governance processes.
What you will do:
• As an Internal Audit Principal, you manage the assigned internal audit or consulting. engagements and present the findings and recommendations to Senior Management.
• Internal Audit Project Leaders are responsible for assigned portions of the audit engagement.
• You provide expert advice and guidance on solutions to address complex issues and challenges.
• You guide the development of audit methodologies and technologies.
• You represent the Department at intra- and inter-departmental venues.
Appointments to be initially made by the Department of Justice Canada and Correctional Service Canada. A pool of qualified candidates may then be established to staff similar positions with various security, language requirements and tenures within the Public Service in the National Capital Region.

What you are expected to offer:
Graduation with a *degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in accounting, business administration, commerce or economics, finance or some other field relevant to the position.
• Experience leading the conduct of an audit or component of an audit or review.
• Experience presenting audit or review findings to *management
*management is defined as Director General level (EX-03) and above, or senior executives in private or public sector organizations external to the federal public service of Canada.
Assets:
A recognized professional designation: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Government Audit Professional (CGAP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Chartered Accountant (CA).
Experience in using data analytic programs such as IDEA, ACL and Excel.
