Duties

This position will be assisting with in-person, phone and email requests from members of the public. They will also be assisting with processing operational and administrative files, including the use of PRIME (Police Records Information Management Environment), CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre) and JUSTIN (Justice Information System).

Work environment

This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one permanent position on a part-time basis (22.5 hours per week).

A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff
future permanent or temporary vacancies in similar or lower-level positions.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
- Recent* and significant** experience in providing administrative support services.
- Experience in using word processing software, such as Microsoft Word.
- Experience in responding to in-person, telephone or email enquiries from the public.

*Recent means experience gained within approximately the last 12 months.
**Significant means a depth and breadth of experience normally associated with performance of duties on a continual basis over a period of approximately 12 to 24 months.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

- Experience in PRIME (Police Records Information Management Environment).
- Experience in JUSTIN (Justice Information System) and BC Provincial Court processes.
- Experience in processing traffic tickets and using TSMIT (Traffic Services Management Information Tool).
- Experience in CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre).

Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.

Please note that within the context of this selection process, travel costs/expenses will not be reimbursed. Consequently, candidates will be responsible for travel costs.

If a qualified candidate has been selected and appointed on an indeterminate basis from the established pool, they will be removed from the pool. Experience qualifications will be assessed upon application. Further confirmation or assessment may be conducted through reference checks.
