The immediate need is to staff one indeterminate Geotechnical Discipline Engineer, with an English Essential language requirement, in one of the following locations: Halifax, NS, Moncton, NB, Saint John, NB, Charlottetown, PE, Corner Brook, NL or St. John’s, NL.
A pool of completely or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff similar positions at an identical or equivalent group and level with various linguistic requirements and various security profiles at Public Services and Procurement Canada within the Atlantic Region.

Education:
Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution in Civil Engineering, with specialization in Geotechnical Engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
*A degree is defined as a baccalaureate or higher level degree, as established by recognized educational authorities.

Occupational Certification:
Certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.
Experience:
Experience in geotechnical analysis and design of engineered systems, site surveys, inspections and technical assistance.
Experience in providing geotechnical engineering services including preparing drawings, specifications, reports, condition assessments and tender documents (budget and schedule estimation).
Experience in coordinating, reviewing and providing advice on the work of other professionals and/or associated resource disciplines relating to design, drawings, specifications, quality or issues.
Experience providing geotechnical design or technical advice to management, project managers or clients.

Asset Educational Requirements:
Additional education or certification related to the discipline such as a Master's Degree, PHD or specialized courses
Asset Experience:
Experience in geotechnical analysis and design for civil engineering project such as: bridges, dams, breakwaters, marine wharves (piling, crib and caisson foundation etc.), dredging, building structures, highways, parking garages and underground infrastructures (piping networks, tunnels, etc.)
Experience in blast analysis and design of blast mitigation measures for buildings.
Experience in design for slope protection and remedial measures related to slope stability and protection.
Experience in preparing detailed scopes of work and terms of references with the purpose of engaging Engineering Consultants.

Operational Requirements:
Willingness and ability to work overtime on occasion on short notice, including weekends.
Willingness to travel for short or long periods of time by car, boat, helicopter or airplane
Willing to work in correctional facilities and penitentiaries.
Willing and able to work on and around construction sites, wearing personal protective equipment.
Possession of a valid provincial driver's license or personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid driver's license, within the limits of Treasury Board policy.
Reliability Status Security Clearance.
Must maintain registration with the applicable provincial engineering association(s) in Canada for the duration of his/her employment.
