Duties

Environment and Climate Change Canada’s real property includes over 7000 sites encompassing research buildings, scientific stations and National Wildlife Areas. The responsibilities cover, but are not limited to, negotiating and drafting agreements covering weather installations, laboratories, National Wildlife Areas and other special purpose facilities needed to deliver the department’s mandate.

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff immediately one (1) bilingual BBB/BBB position on a temporary basis for a period of up to 1 year or more with the possibility of an extension. A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff identical or similar positions within Environment and Climate Change Canada in the National Capital Region with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements, various security clearance levels as well as various tenures (indeterminate, specified period, deployment, acting, secondment, assignment) according to the position being staffed.

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Significant experience* in negotiating commercial real estate transactions and drafting commercial legal real estate instruments, including but not limited to: purchases, sales and leases. (Applicants MUST demonstrate this experience by providing information including but not limited to addresses of properties, type of transactions, type of space, size, and type of clients).
• Experience in providing strategic advice/briefing material to Director level or higher on real property issues.

* “Significant” experience means having performed a broad range of related activities, which could normally be acquired by performing the duties regularly (on daily or weekly basis) over a period of approximately 5 years.

Abilities:
• Ability to manage simultaneous multiple priorities.
• Ability to assess client needs and make recommendations.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Asset Experience:
• Experience working in the federal government in negotiating commercial real estate transaction and drafting commercial legal real estate instruments, including but not limited to: purchases, sales and leases.
