Workplace:

At the time this job opportunity was published, Indigenous Services Canada employees had not yet returned to their workplace due to the context of COVID-19. Therefore, the successful candidates may have to work remotely until further notice.

The official workplace for the position of Program Officer is located in Montreal. Depending on the needs and requirements of the service, the possibility of a telework arrangement could be considered. The request will be assessed in accordance with the provisions of the Directive on Telework.

Screening questions:

Candidates shall submit their application online via the GC Jobs website, as they will be asked to complete screening questions in which they must clearly demonstrate how they meet the education and experience criteria listed in the essential qualifications and other qualifications (asset).

The answer should clearly identify the role and explain relevant responsibilities and/or actions that the candidates took. Duties

As a Program Officer, you will coordinate and/ or provide service in the execution and administration of programs, projects and initiatives. ISC offers a wide range of programs to First Nations and Inuit people across Canada, especially:
• The Indian Residential Schools Resolution Health Support Program
• Jordan's Principle
• First Nations and Inuit Home and Community Care (FNIHCC)
• and many others.

Intent of the process

This process may be used to establish a list of qualified candidates which may be used to staff various positions within the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch, Indigenous Services Canada, Quebec Region.

Should the selected candidate already be a public servant, the list could also be used for acting appointments, for a secondment, deployment opportunities, etc.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
Two years in a post-secondary program or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience, in a field related to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience in information research and analysis.

Experience in providing recommendations to management or clients.

Experience in reviewing or monitoring of financial or activity reports for projects or programs.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates who meet one or more of the following occupational requirements are invited to demonstrate these in their application as they may constitute an asset.

Recent* experience in the health field such as community health, addictions, mental health, suicide prevention, child or family development, healthy living, chronic diseases, First Nations and Inuit health issues, etc.

*Recent experience refers to the extent and scope of experience associated with the performance of these functions, in the last 5 years.

Experience in the field of finance such as financial management, financial analysis, management accounting, compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial auditing, quality assurance activities and management action plans, etc.
