The Unit Manager:

--» Manages the work delivered by a large multi-disciplinary unit.

--» Provides authoritative professional architectural, and/or landscape architectural advice and guidance to PSPC/GAC and OGD senior management and project teams on real property issues, and leads teams delivering technical services in support of complex or high profile projects.

--» Manages, forecasts, and plans the resource requirements and budgets for the unit and its body of work; manages capacity versus demand for human resources, and allocates budgets as required to ensure continued and consistent delivery of services to meet client demand.

--» Establishes the objectives, business plan, work plan, and strategies for the unit. Implements measures as required to ensure the larger organization meets its objectives, priorities, and commitments, and contributes to strategic business development in that regard.

--» Provides leadership related to the development of policies, standards, and procedures for work performed in, or for, the department and OGD.

--» Assures the quality of all work prepared by staff, and ensures that work delivered to clients meets their requirements.

--» Directs the development and preparation of a variety of documents prepared for clients and senior management.

Architectural and Engineering Services (AES) within Technical Services Service Line (TSSL) in PSPC is a Directorate of 100+ engineers, architects and technologists providing technical advisory services to PSPC and Other Government Departments (OGD) in the areas of architecture, urban design, and landscape architecture, all engineering disciplines, heritage conservation and strategic support to assets.

--» Global Affairs Canada (GAC):

GAC is responsible for managing Canada’s diplomatic and consular relations abroad, expanding international trade, and leading Canada's overseas activities related to international development and humanitarian assistance. GAC is also responsible for maintaining the Government of Canada’s international network of diplomatic and consular offices in foreign countries.

Professional & Technical Services, within the International Platform Branch is the physical infrastructure delivery agent, responsible for meeting the evolving needs of GAC’s missions abroad by designing, constructing, equipping and supporting Canada’s diplomatic and consular platform abroad.

Intent of the process
