This is an anticipatory process to staff several ENG-02 positions for a determinate period of 2 years at CanmetENERGY in Varennes, Quebec.
A pool of qualified candidates may also be established through this process to staff similar ENG-02 positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.)), various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.
This pool will be partially assessed (subject to successful completion of education), therefore students who expect to complete their studies by June 30, 2021 are encouraged to apply.

A response to a text question addressing the following:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Building Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
Recent experience* in processing and analysing results of modelling/simulating mechanical heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems or energy systems applied to buildings;
Recent experience* in energy analysis (such as the analysis of performance data) applied to HVAC systems for buildings;
Experience with programming languages such as MATLab, Visual Basic, Fortran.
*Recent experience: an experience gained within the last five (5) years in a work place or within a master’s project or during student cooperative projects.

Knowledge in energy analysis and modeling/simulating of HVAC systems.
Ability to analyse operating or experimental data of buildings, equipment or energy systems using programming language tools;

Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position obtained from a recognized post-secondary institution
Experience in experimental techniques for test benches (Instrumentation, tests and data analysis);
Experience in the design or installation and operation of refrigeration and heat pump equipment or systems;
Experience with energy simulation software such as EnergyPlus, TRNSYS, Modelica to perform buildings or HVAC systems energy analyses;
