Duties

Administrative assistant-type positions are an integral part of the day-to-day operations within the Correctional Service of Canada. Depending on the position - one might be supporting health care activities, offender programming, records management, security intelligence, facilities maintenance, or attending to daily business functions for a wide variety of managers, assistant wardens, district directors or wardens. Positions are in various work environments, including federal correctional institutions, community parole offices, regional headquarter facilities and community correctional centres. It's rarely the same day twice with the Correctional Service of Canada.

Work environment

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to identify qualified candidates for current and anticipatory staffing needs for a variety of administrative assistant-type positions in the locations identified on this job advertisement for the Correctional Service of Canada - Campbellford and Peterborough, ON. Staffing needs include permanent, temporary and casual/as required employment opportunities.

Information on employment equity

This selection process has three stages:
Stage 1 is the screening of applications, specifically the responses to the ten (10) questions imbedded in this job advertisement. Resumes are considered a secondary source of information during screening.
Stage 2 consists of an interview and the completion of an asset qualifications questionnaire. Interviews, anticipated to commence by mid Fall 2020, may be completed in person or by telephone depending on logistics and/or COVID-19 developments in the province.
Stage 3 will be reference checks. Reference names will be requested during stage 2.

Candidates must meet all of the essential qualifications noted in the Statement of Merit Criteria to be appointed to a position.
