The Courts Administration Service (CAS) is a distinctive organization in the Government of Canada that serves to support access to justice nationwide, and facilitate coordination and support among the four courts; serving the Federal Court of Appeal, the Federal Court, the Court Martial Appeal Court and the Tax Court of Canada.

The Information and Technology Services Division provides a full range of Information Management and Information Technology services to our clients including the four courts and the Courts Administration Service staff who support the courts. CAS is an optional Shared Services Canada client and as such operate an independent IT infrastructure to deliver the applications and services required by our clients.

Intent of the process

A pool of pre-qualified or fully qualified candidates may be created to staff similar or identical positions with various tenure, various linguistic profiles and security requirements within the Courts Administration Service.

Candidates may be evaluated further, for specific opportunities, on qualifications that are deemed necessary, whether or not these qualifications have been listed on the job advertisement.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

At minimum, successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed or an acceptable combination of training, education or experience.

Note:
1.Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.

Degree equivalency

Recent* experience providing technical services in at least one of the following areas:
• Application development;
• Database administration;
• Quality assurance.

Recent* experience using troubleshooting approaches to resolve IT issues.

Recent* experience providing services or advice to clients.

Recent* experience working or collaborating with others on IT projects or initiatives.
Definition:
* Recent experience is defined as the experience usually acquired within the last five (5) years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience developing using .Net and C#.

Experience in performing testing and quality assurance related activities (including but not limited to performing functional, integration and regression testing).

Experience in developing and maintaining web solutions and services.

Experience implementing web solutions and services.

Experience in programming using PLSQL.

Experience doing data modeling and database designs.

Experience supporting Oracle Database applications.

The assessment board reserves the right to contact references other than the ones submitted by the candidates (only within the Public Service), if found necessary, in order to make a suitable assessment of the candidates.

All the information collected during the selection process, from the time of application until the end of the process, will be used to assess the candidates.

Asset qualification(s) may be applied in this selection process.

Written communication may be assessed via candidate's job application.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
