Duties

The work will consist of planning and preparing data collections, carrying out field surveys and farm visits, processing and analyzing data and writing reports and scientific articles.

Work environment

This work is part of a research program analyzing alternative mixed-crop/mixed-livestock production systems. In particular, the internship is part of a socioeconomic analysis project. The intern will be based at the Sherbrooke Research and Development Centre (QC). The student will be supervised by a researcher and a research assistant..

The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a specialization in biology or agronomy
AND be currently enrolled or eligible to enroll in a master’s program with a specialization in agroecology at Université Laval.

Degree equivalency

Experience in using the Microsoft Office suite (including MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel)
Experience in data collection and analysis
Experience in farm business management

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Each student hired through the Research Affiliate Program (RAP) must meet the security requirements of the position as a condition of employment, and therefore will be asked by the hiring organization to complete security-relevant documents.

Possession of a valid driver’s licence or personal mobility to the degree normally associated with a valid driver’s licence;
Ability and willingness to travel;
Ability and willingness to work in fields and in barns;
Ability and willingness to work with strong odours (manure, sludge, etc.);
Ability and willingness to work in contact with farm animals and in agricultural conditions that may cause allergic reactions (hay fever).
Known allergies must be controlled through the use of personal protective equipment and/or medication and must not impinge upon duties to be performed.
