Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one indeterminate position.

A pool of qualified or partially assessed candidates will be established to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, term, assignment, secondment or acting basis) and with various language requirements (English essential, BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC) and various security profiles within Transport Canada in the National Capital Region.

EDUCATION:
• A secondary school diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
• Possession of a medically valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License – Aeroplane Category with a valid Group I Instrument Rating AND possession of a valid Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical);
OR
• Possession of a medically valid Canadian Commercial Pilot License – Helicopter Category with a valid Group IV Instrument Rating AND possession of a valid Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical).

EXPERIENCE:
• Total of 2,500 hours of flight time, which includes 1,500 hours as pilot-in-command of which 250 hours is in either multiple engine aeroplanes OR Transport Category helicopters.
• Experience in analyzing complex situations and making recommendations.
• Experience in developing policies, procedures, or standards.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an instructor at a Flight Training Unit or in the Military.
• Experience exercising Ministerial Authority under the Aeronautics Act and the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) as a Pilot Examiner, Authorized Person or Approved Check Pilot.
• Experience writing documents such as: company operations manuals, technical bulletins, operational procedures and guidance material, training materials, Power Point presentations and other written correspondence.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
Degree from a recognized university or post-secondary education in an aviation or other related program to the position.

Degree equivalency

A Class I or II Canadian Flight Instructor Rating OR a Canadian Forces Instructor Category.

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in working in ANY of the following positions:
- Chief Flight Instructor or equivalent;
- Training Captain;
- Pilot Examiner/Approved Check Pilot.
• Experience in developing and delivering training lessons or information briefings.
• Experience as Pilot in Command of an aircraft operating under Part VII of the Canadian Aviation Regulations.
