Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one indeterminate English essential position.

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various linguistic requirements, various security requirements, various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
o A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
o An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Valid Trade Qualification certificate (i.e. Power Engineer class 4 or higher, Electrician, Gas Fitting, Millwright, or Plumbing).

EX1. Significant experience in the maintenance and operation of mechanical, electrical, fire protection and energy management systems within a scientific facility or other institution.
*Significant is defined as the depth an breadth of the experience that would be usually acquired in approximately five (5) years.
EX2. Experience in the operation of building management systems.
EX3. Experience organizing logistics for new installations within a facility.
EX4. Minimum two (2) years experience in supervising staff, including assigning tasks, scheduling staff, work orders and completing performance appraisals.
EX5. Experience to provide progress reports and feedback to clients on ongoing facilities projects and activities.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Having a valid Class 5 driver's licence or equivalent.
Ability to lift more than 50 pounds.
Willing to be called into work outside regular work hours in cases of emergency.
Willing to be on standby occasionally.
Willing to work overtime.
Be physically able to climb up and down a ladder, as well as to work inside and outside confined or restricted access spaces.
Must wear required personal protective equipment.
