In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of a 2 year Community College or Technical University CAD/Drafting Technician course or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Do you have experience with the following areas?
- Experience in drafting.
- Experience in the production of multi-discipline construction drawings using Auto CAD.
- Experience using a personal computer utilizing MS Office Suite software.

Do you have knowledge of common practices and building construction?

Do you have knowledge of applicable codes and regulations associated with engineering design function?

Do you have the ability to effectively communicate in writing?

Do you have the ability to perform a site investigation and collect pertinent information for the purpose of developing construction drawings?

Do you have the ability to produce digital preliminary, final and as-built drawings?

Do you possess the following personal suitabilities?
- Demonstrating integrity and respect
- Thinking things through
- Working effectively with others
- Showing initiative and being action-oriented

A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements, or organizational needs. However, meeting these qualifications is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed, now and in the future.
- Experience using DND CAD standards.
- Experience working in a construction environment.
- Experience drafting/design with Revit.
- Experience working in a team environment.

Do you have knowledge in the following areas?:
- Knowledge of the National Master Specification format.
- Knowledge of commercial/industrial construction principles.

Do you have the ability to operate printers, plotters, scanners and other peripheral devices?

Are you willing and able to meet these operational requirements?:
- Available for call-in and overtime when required.
- Able to work in confined spaces if required.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Must be able to obtain an enhanced reliability security clearance.

Must wear CSA approved safety footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Must be able to work in physically demanding conditions such as extreme weather, confined spaces or heights and physically lift of up to 25 kg, when required.
Possession of a valid and unrestricted provincial Class 5 Driver’s licence.
Must be willing to work overtime as required
Must be able to obtain a departmental vehicle operators permit (DND 404)
