EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.
Notes:
Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
Significant* experience in writing documents that summarize regulatory or technical issues which include recommendation to decision-makers.
Experience in conducting investigations and making recommendations for administrative or penal outcomes.
Experience in working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
Experience in conducting peer reviews.
Experience using Microsoft Suite Applications such as Word, Outlook and Excel.
* Significant experience refers to the complexity and diversity of issues handled and the level of autonomy demonstrated which is normally associated with the performance of the duties for at least two (2) years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Masters of Law from a recognized university.
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) Degree or Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree or Bachelor Degree in Criminology / Criminal Justice
Graduation with an advanced degree (Masters, Doctorate) from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
Possession of a university Degree or college Diploma in a field related to transportation.
Certification or education in: Accident investigations, forensics, paralegal studies.
Successful completion of a Bar Admissions Exam.
Successful completion of a law society/law practice program.
Successful completion of articling for a 10 month period with a licensed/qualified lawyer.
Successful completion of a legal drafting course.
Successful completion of a Bar Admission Course and of articles.
EXPERIENCE
Experience working in Transportation Operations.
Experience as an lawyer appearing before an administrative tribunal or in civil or criminal venues
Experience in practicing law in the private or public sector.
Experience in preparing inspection or investigation reports and presenting analysis and information to peers and senior management.
Experience in the drafting of Judicial Authorizations (i.e. Search warrants, Production orders).
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability and willingness to travel and using all modes of transportation, as required.
Ability and willingness to work overtime, as required.
