Intent of the process

This process will be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates and it may also be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (Deployment, Assignment, Secondment, Acting, Term or Indeterminate) within Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) in different locations with various language profiles and requirements (bilingual imperative BBB/BBB or CBC/CBC or English Essential) and various security requirements (reliability or secret).

EDUCATION:

• Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with an acceptable specialization in social sciences, humanities or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.

• Experience in providing advice and recommendations to internal or external clients on program issues.

• Experience in researching and analyzing information and developing options.

• Experience in participating in multi-disciplinary team environment.

ASSESSMENT

Candidates must meet all the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position.

You may be assessed using a variety of assessment tools, such as, but not limited to: standardized tests, written exams, interviews, simulation exercises, reference checks, recent and past performance evaluations, self-assessments, candidate achievement record, etc. Some assessment tools may be administered electronically, others, in-person.

Applicants MUST make themselves available within the time span of the testing phase. Applicants will be only be rescheduled on a case-by-case basis. Supporting documentation may be required at the time of your request to be re-scheduled.

Assessments may be conducted at the Department of Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) Manitoba Regional Office in Winnipeg and may require candidates to travel to the assessment location. Candidates will be required to pay for their own travel expenses when invited for assessment.

Please note that your overall conduct and communications, including email correspondence, throughout the entire process may be used in the assessment of qualifications and competencies.

You must provide ORIGINAL proof of your education credentials. If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your certificates and/or diplomas assessed against Canadian education standards. For more information please click on “Degree Equivalency” in the Education section above.

Please note that achieving the pass mark on any of the assessments used does not mean you will move forward in the selection process. Management may decide to use a score that is higher than the pass mark on any of the evaluations used throughout the selection process. Management may also decide to use top-down at any stage of the process.

Candidate may be selected based on the depth and breadth of their experience.

Candidates are strongly encouraged to indicate if they meet any of the asset qualifications or the organizational needs, depending on the requirements of the specific position being staffed. Management may choose to invoke an asset(s) at any point of the process.
