Detachment Services Assistant 3 provides administrative and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. This position also provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.
Maskwacis Detachment has Detachment Services Assistants working rotational shift schedules 7 days per week. Day shifts are between the hours of 7:00am and 6:00pm. Night shifts are between the hours of 5:00pm and 4:00am. These shifts are rotational, 2 day shifts, 2 night shifts and then 4 days off.
This process will initially be used to staff one position on an indeterminate basis. A qualified pool of candidates will be established and used to staff these positions and similar positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).
Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.
Please note this process will only be used to staff positions in Maskwacis, Alberta.
Candidates from outside the federal public service will be required to pay for their own travel (including travel for assessment purposes), and may be required to pay for their own relocation expenses.

Experience working with Indigenous communities.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in a law enforcement and/or legal environment.
Experience in maintaining a law enforcement database such as: Police Reporting Occurrence System (PROS) or Canadian Police Information (CPIC).
Experience liaising with court representatives or officials, or preparing court disclosure packages. This includes but is not limited to preparing manual or electronic disclosure packages, creating Informations and Subpoenas on JOIN, swearing Court documents.
Knowledge of local area.

Successful completion of secondary school education
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation (including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft and up to and including remote locations).
Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Willingness and ability to work shift work.
Reliability Status security clearance - RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS) security clearance - NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.
