The Canadian Coast Guard is the lead federal agency for the response component of Canada’s Marine Oil Spill Preparedness Response Regime. The Environmental Response program monitors or manages the clean-up efforts for any ship-source or mystery source pollution incident in waters under Canadian jurisdiction. Under the direction of a CCG Environmental Response Senior Response Officer, this position carries out environmental response duties in the marine environment as part of the Canadian Coast Guard’s federal mandate. Key activities may include response to pollution incidents in the field, operation and maintenance of vessels, pollution response equipment and vehicles, supporting development and implementation of Environmental Response planning, training and exercises as well as carrying out administrative duties at the headquarters area.

EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience working in a marine environment.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Willing and able to travel including travel to remote locations by various modes of transportation (e.g. small and large aircraft, all-terrain vehicles, boats, helicopter, etc.)

- Willing and able to be on standby
- Adherence to the CCG Respiratory Protection Program
- Various levels of Security Clearance (Reliability or Secret) depending on the position
- Valid Health Canada Occupational Health Assessment Report - Category III, Scientific Personnel Field
- Requirement to wear and maintain a uniform, safety footwear and personal protective equipment
- Possession of a valid unrestricted class 5 driver's license
