Possession of a valid Nova Scotia or Inter-provincial carpenter journeyman certificate.
- Experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance on a variety of structures such as wooden and metal;
- Experience in estimating material and equipment requirements related to carpenter tasks;
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Knowledge of safety practices, codes and policies required in order to inspect, install, repair and maintain structures related to construction and carpentry.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- Ability to operate a variety of hand tools, power tools and machinery related to carpenter tasks;
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and blueprints in order to provide supervisor with material and equipment estimates related to the carpentry trade
- Ability to organize and expedite work.
- Ability to work on elevated platforms and uneven surfaces such as scaffolding, ladders and man lifts related to the carpentry trade.

- Experience in concrete work including constructing forms, and estimating material;
- Experience in brick laying, flooring, roofing, and locksmithing;
- Experience working in a military airfield environment;
- Current certification/qualification for service platforms and lifts
- Must be willing and able to work overtime including shift work, nights and weekends if and when required.

Reliability Status security clearance - Must be able to obtain an enhanced reliability security clearance.
- Possession of a valid un-restricted Provincial Class 5 Driver’s Licence;
- Must be able to lift up to 20kgs in accordance with safety practices;
- Must wear CSA approved safety footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
- Must be able to obtain a departmental vehicle operators permit (DND 404);
