Intent of the process

Education
ED1 : Successful completion of a post-secondary training program in avionics maintenance, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Occupationnel Certification
OC1: Possession of a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer license, Category E

Experience
EX1 : Significant and recent experience as an E license Aircraft Maintenance Engineer maintaining, modifying and installing avionics equipment and systems while exercising the associated ACA privileges.

*Significant and recent experience is defined as at least two years relevant working experience within the last three years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

AED1 : Manufacturer or other TC Approved Type training courses on radio, navigation, instrument, autoflight and electrical systems for;
AED1.1 : Bombardier Challenger CL 601 & CL 604 Series;
AED1.2 : Cessna Citation II C-550;
AED1.3 : Beechcraft King Air C-90A;
AED1.4 : De Havilland Dash-8 100 Series;
AED1.5 : Viking Air Dash-7.

AED2 : Manufacturer or other TC Approved Type training courses on radio, navigation, instrument, autoflight and electrical systems for;
AED2.1 : Bell 429;
AED2.2 : Bell 412 / 412EPI;
AED2.3 : Bell 407;
AED2.4 : Bell 206B.

Degree equivalency

AEX1 : Experience in maintenance of Avionics Electrical Systems

AEX2 : Experience in maintaining various aircraft communication (including SATCOM), navigation, instrument, autoflight and flight following systems

AEX3 : Experience maintaining Avionics / Electrical systems on any of the following types of aircraft: Bell 429, Bell 412EPI, Bell 206B & Bell 407.

AEX4 : Experience maintaining Avionics / Electrical systems on any of the following types of aircraft: Bombardier Challenger CL 601 & CL604 Series, Cessna Citation II C-550, Beechcraft King Air C-90A De-Havilland Dash-8 100 Series, Viking Air Dash-7

AEX5 : Experience maintaining and overhauling NiCad and lead acid type aircraft batteries.

AEX6 : Experience installing and / or modifying existing Avionics / Electrical systems in fixed wing aircraft.

AEX7 : Experience installing and / or modifying existing Avionics / Electrical systems in rotary wing aircraft.

K2: Knowledge of acceptable methods, techniques and practices related to avionics installations and repairs.

A3: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within limited time frames.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

• Possession of a valid driver's license
• Possession of a valid Canadian passport.
• Willing and able to travel via commercial airlines within North America.
• Willing and able to travel on short notice within North America in support of other ASD Bases and client operations.
• Willing and able to travel on-board ASD and client aircraft during operational roles and for movement in support of ASD and client operations.
• Willing and able to travel for extended periods in support of ASD and client operations.
• Willing and able to work in various positions on aircraft and in the hanger(standing, kneeling, lying and sitting), as well as crawling in confined spaces and climbing and working from elevated maintenance stands to perform aircraft maintenance.
• Willing and able to work shift/rotational schedules including evenings and weekends. Willing and able to work shifts and/or overtime during the week or weekends on short notice.
• Willing and able to assist with the moving, cleaning, fueling and preparation for inspection of aircraft
• Willing and able to support the base in day to day duties ie; technical library, stores records, tool calibration and hangar cleaning
