The assessment of candidates should take place in four (4) phases:

Phase 1 - Analytical and Problem Solving Exercise (APSE)
We will assess Analysis / Problem solving and Judgement (Essential Qualification) via an Analytical and Problem Solving Exercise (APSE). This test will be administered electronically by a third-party test administrator (EPSI).

Phase 2 - Client Contact Center Test (T3C)
We will assess the following competencies via the Client Contact Center Test (T3C): Client Service, Behavioural Flexibility, Interpersonal Skills and Thoroughness (Essential Qualification). This test will be administered electronically by a third-party test administrator (EPSI).

Phase 3 - Written Communication and partial assessment of Dependability and : Text Question from Application
Your answer to the Text Question within the TEXT section of your application will be used to evaluate the essential qualification Written Communication and to partially evaluate the essential qualification Dependability.

Phase 4 - Right Fit Interview with final assessment of Dependability
Oral Communication and last part of Dependability will be assessed only if you are considered for a possible appointment. These essential qualifications will be assessed through a right fit interview.

The first cohort (draw) of this inventory is expected to be identified in July 2020, with assessments completed and hiring beginning in August 2020.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
As an Early Resolution Officer, you will have an opportunity to offer first hand support to hard-working Canadians who deserve to have fair working conditions, to be paid properly and to enjoy a work-life balance. You will do this by providing advice, guidance and legislative interpretations, over the phone and in writing, to federally regulated workers and employers, as well as the public, on matters relating to the Canada Labour Code.

We offer a variety of business lines for you to specialize in, including Occupational Health & Safety, Labour Standards as well as Harassment & Violence Prevention. Every day will bring new challenges and interesting situations.

The Labour Program is a branch of Employment and Social Development of Canada. We are responsible for protecting the rights and well-being of both workers and employers in federally regulated workplaces. We support approximately 18,000 employers and 900,000 of their employees, which accounts for about six percent of all Canadian workers.

Intent of the process

A partially assessed pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff future positions in Moncton (NB), Charlottetown (PE), Dartmouth (NS), St John’s (NL), Regina (SK) or in Winnipeg (MB) within Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) Labour Program.

EDUCATION

What is a top-down selection? It is where only the top scoring candidates will be invited to the next stage of the assessment.
