Duties

These positions will be part of the RCMP's Corporate Classification team, which is responsible for policy oversight, monitoring, advice and guidance to 9 Divisional classification teams across the country; classification redress; training and accreditation; the implementation of departmental and interdepartmental projects and initiatives (i.e. conversion, renewal); the development of standardized job descriptions; the management and maintenance of the RCMP's regular member classification evaluation tools; and general modernization of the department's classification function.

We are seeking creative, flexible and motivated individuals to help modernize our program with innovative tools and ideas that will make classification easier and more efficient for advisors, managers and employees all throughout the department. We will also be focussing on the development of high quality standardized job descriptions and accompanying organizational models; and supporting the divisional classification teams with the upcoming conversion initiatives.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff 4 indeterminate positions with various linguistic profiles (English Essential and Bilingual Imperative) with a RCMP Enhanced Reliability security clearance. Note that we can alter the tenure (specified term or casual) to suit the needs of the chosen qualified candidates.

A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP with various tenures, linguistic profiles and RCMP security clearances.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certification:
Accreditation in classification

E1. Significant* experience in providing strategic advice and guidance on complex organizational design or classification issues.

E2. Significant* experience in job evaluation using various standards, writing classification rationales and in conducting relativity studies

E3. Significant* experience chairing and participating as a rating member on classification committees.

* Significant is defined as having the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of the duties during a period of approximately three (3) years.

Note: The provision of advice on classification matters must be the major responsibility of the job, not just an occasional task, and within a HR Branch.

Conditions of employment
