Duties

DFO is seeking for organization and classification advisors for fill positions in the following fields: Executive (EX) Group Classification; Corporate Classification. We offer flexible working conditions to ensure work-life balance, including telework and working from remote locations.

Did you know that the world’s longest coastline is in Canada? The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is responsible for ensuring that the country has a world-leading plan to protect it and marine species at risk.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff two positions on an indeterminate basis (one in each streams). A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established from this selection process and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, various linguistic profiles as well as various security clearances within Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO).

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or any other field relevant to the work to be performed. Note: Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the PE group on October 1, 1999, who do not possess the education level prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)

STREAM 2:
Accreditation in classification in the Federal Public Service classification system.

EXPERIENCE:
STREAM 1:
Experience in evaluating EX positions using the Hay Plan.

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of Organization and Classification policies, directives and practices.
Knowledge of corporate classification program activities.

ABILITIES:
Ability to analyze.
Ability to recommend sound and innovative solutions.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.

STREAM 2:

Candidates must meet all the essential qualifications to be appointed to a position.

One (1) alternate date will be possible only if requested for the following reasons: 1) Medical reasons with doctor’s certificate 2) Death in your immediate family 3) Confirmation of pre-approved travel plans or training plans (made before the advertisement posting date) 4) Religious reasons or 5) Participation in an assessment for another selection process.

Please note that achieving the pass mark on any of the assessments used does not mean you will move forward in the selection process. Management may decide to use a score that is higher than the pass mark on any of the evaluations used throughout the selection process. Management may also decide to use top-down selection at any stage of the process.

Management may choose to invoke an asset(s) at any point of the process.
