• ~~ Shift Work ~~ •
Telecommunications Operators work in Communications Centres that operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) permanent position in Edmonton, AB. If a future vacancy comes available, candidates who have been found qualified may be contacted for similar positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, or acting) in Edmonton.
Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

• A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternative. Employer approved alternatives consists of a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Successful completion of a Telecommunications Operator Training Program recognized by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
• Significant** experience as an Operational Communications Centre Operator 9-1-1 dispatcher.
**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with approximately three years of experience.
• Experience in supervising and training employees.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
(Note: Written Communication Skills will be assessed throughout application process.)
• Experience in employee supervision such as resource management, scheduling, and monitoring performance.
• Experience applying administrative and operational policies, procedures or directives
• Experience in managing the operation or administration of an Operational Communications Centre (OCC).

7. Ability and willingness to work in a confined or restrictive workspace, wear a headset, and exposure to multiple computer screens, and noise disturbances for extended periods of time.

Top Secret security clearance - RCMP Top Secret Security Clearance. Those selected must meet and maintain the above condition of employment throughout their employment.
